Jon and Edie Cathie – Senior Pastors
Jon and Edie were called as Senior Pastors to Capital Edge (then Erindale Christian Centre) in March 2007. Prior to this, Jon was an Executive Pastor at Edge Church International, Adelaide where he had been on team for 10 years. Jon’s passion is to communicate God’s Word in a real and applicable way, seeing lives changed by the power of God and people growing to full maturity in their faith. Jon and Edie have four wonderful kids, Grace, Meg, Ethan and Joseph.
Mark McGugan – Assistant Pastor
In 2009, Mark, Elizabeth and their three fantastic children Joel, Katelyn and Nathan moved to Canberra from Canada. Mark has previously worked as a Youth Pastor in Eastern Canada where he oversaw various departments. He ministered in this pastoral position for 6 years before God led Him into an IT based role with a large multi-national aquaculture company. In late 2012, Mark joined the staff as Assistant Pastor at Capital Edge where he oversees the Youth and Lifegroup departments along with other ministries in the life of the church. His bubbly personality and big heart are evident in all he does!
Michael Baumgartner – Creative Ministries Pastor
Michael and Bekk joined Capital Edge in 2007, having returned from Cape Town where they worshipped at The People’s Church and where Bekk was Music Director. Michael joined our staff in 2008 as Youth Pastor where he served for 5 years. He has now taken on the leadership of the Creative Ministries department. Michael also oversees all the graphics and media work at the church. Mike and Bekk run a very successful Music School (JAM) and they have two beautiful boys, Caleb and Josiah.
Chris Hinton – Children’s Pastor
Chris and Kate along with daughter Genevieve and son Ryan joined Capital Edge in 2004. Chris was Head of Middle School/teacher at Brindabella Christian College when he was called to join our staff as Children’s Pastor. He brings to the role over 15 years of experience with children and has a passion for Performing Arts and Children’s Outreach. Together, he and Kate also run a Bible Study Life Group.
Ray Walton – Missions Director
Ray and wife Margaret joined Capital Edge in 2007. Prior to this they had pastored at Summerlakes Christian Centre in Perth for seven years and before that in Woollongong for twelve years. Ray has been involved in mission work in Asia for seven years and through this has planted 33 churches. Margaret is a Primary School Teacher and has been involved in Children’s Ministry for well over 15 years. They have four sons and four grandchildren.
Janeane Thompson – Finance Manager/Pastoral Carer
Janeane, Michael and their three sons, D.J., Clayton and Corey joined Capital Edge in November 2006. Prior to this, they fellowshipped at Cathedral of Praise, Rockhampton. Janeane joined the staff in January 2007. She also helps lead Unique – our ladies department and runs a day time Life Group. Mike is a Manager at IBA Home Ownership and heads up Momentum, our Men’s Department.
Simóne Irwin – PA to Ps Jon / New People / Connect Team
Simone and Jono Irwin have been a part of the Capital Edge Team for some time now, serving as leaders of our Connect Department for over two years. Jono also serves the church as a member of the Board.
Simóne wrapped up her commitments as an Occupational Therapist in late 2012 and joins the Capital Edge Staff in 2013 to be Ps Jon's Personal Assistant as well as head up the New People and the Connect Teams. We wanted to make sure that there was someone who could focus on the many new families and people joining the church, to help them lock in and feel welcomed at Capital Edge.
Katische Vinning – Office Manager/Events Coordinator
Katische and Adam joined Capital Edge in 2006, having been transferred for employment from Melbourne. Katische worked as a Bid Manager at Thales for two years and joined our staff in January 2009. After taking maternity leave with the birth of little Judah, Katische rejoins the team in 2013. Adam and Katische also have a daughter, Sasha.
